Arch of Friendship, European Square
This giant metal arch was erected to commemorate the allegedly eternal ties of friendship between Russia and Ukraine. Unsurprisingly, this theme has meant that the Arch is not a big favourite with many Ukrainian patriots, but unlike many communist era public monuments, this one has stayed and is a great example of seventies Soviet futurist constructivism.

Arch of Friendship
Why should I go? The Arch is located on a perch high above the Dnipro River with a viewing platform offering unrivalled views across to the left bank and the endless horizons of the East Ukrainian steppe. This is where many believe the historic divide between Europe and Asia really lies and there are few better spots from which to view it.
