How much to tip?
Tipping is common in Ukraine and it would be considered fairly bad form to leave nothing in a restaurant or bar. The standard rate is around 10% of the overall bill although if the total sum is small you would be expected to leave slightly more.

Ukrainian service staff generally receive extremely low salaries and so depend on tips for their livelihood. Sadly and somewhat unfathomably, this does not always translate into attentive and friendly service. Please bear in mind if confronted by apparently rude and inconsiderate staff that this is a symptom of the country’s ongoing Soviet hangover and is not directed personally at you!
